Introduction
J. Bryant Boyd, Architect is a highly productive Residential Architecture Firm whose sole intent is the complete satisfaction of our clients. We believe that by building a strong personal relationship with our clients we can give them the type of experience that will produce the ideal home for them. Whether you are an experienced home buyer or a first time buyer we believe that we can give you the best architectural service in Austin, Georgetown and Central Texas.
Our team members have had experience in building in the Austin area for the past ten years. In that time we have earned the reputation as being highly knowledgeable and experienced in home design and construction documentation. We have designed and been involved in the design process in hundreds of homes in the Austin and Central Texas area. Our projects range from custom to speculative homes from 1000 to 13,000 square feet. We also have experience in multi-family housing, interior decoration, remodeling, institutional and government projects, as well as commercial development projects. As you can see, our company is a well rounded firm with the abilities to meet any of your design challenges.
We believe that a design should be interesting and aesthetically pleasing as well as practical and economical to build. Our staff and associates are among the most talented architects and creative thinkers in the Austin area and through the use of the latest in architectural design tools and technology we can give you accurate and complete documentation of your project from the very first conceptual sketches to the final construction documents. The heart of our construction documents lies in the extensive experience with computerized drafting and reproduction techniques used in conjunction with years of hands on experience at the drafting table and on the construction site. Our plans are designed to meet all applicable building code requirements in the State of Texas. Once complete, the plans can be confidently used for accurate cost estimating and engineering development.
Every project needs a good architect and every architect needs a good team of builders and suppliers to bring their ideas to life. From the simplest gazebo to the most elaborate homes in Austin, J. Bryant Boyd is committed to excellence. We look forward to the opportunity of working with all of our clients and we gladly invite you to experience the pleasure of seeing your dreams come to life.
Working With Us
One of the most important decisions you will make when starting your new home will be the selection of an architect. No matter if you want a 1200 square foot weekend retreat or a 15,000 square foot mansion, a good architect will help mold your dreams into reality.
The initial idea and design of your new home is a very exciting process; it is also a very personal and revealing process that looks into every aspect of your day-to-day life and lifestyle. We will discover the things about you that are necessary in the development of 'your’ new home. Excellent architecture, however, is found through the mixing of your lifestyle with the functional and environmental aspects of your property. Environmental concerns like sun angles, wind and water flow as well as tree location and natural land formations are all very real and important aspects of your new home and should be considered carefully. The selection of your architect should be based on your being comfortable not only with their design ability but with their ability to make you feel comfortable and confident in their decision making process for 'your’ home. Furthermore, if you have a well-focused idea of what you want us to do, you’ll not only end up with the type of design that suits your needs, but you’ll be able to stay within your budget.
Most people find out about our services too late in the home building process. Some builders have 'canned’ or pre-drawn plans which they sell as if they were shirts on a rack. They look good, but only a few of them may actually fit or be the right style, and you may find one that will work but you always wish it had been a little bit better. It is a good idea to consult with us prior to selecting your new homebuilder. It is very important that the builder and the architect be able to work together. We have worked with many builders in this area and know their reputation, level of skill, and expertise. After reviewing your needs we can then recommend a few builders who are more well matched to your style and budget.
Working with us to design your new home or addition may be easier and more affordable than you think. Not all architects are interested only in high-dollar projects that are often featured on the cover of architectural magazines. The vast majority earns their living designing modest-sized homes and buildings. J. Bryant Boyd has the education and experience to make your projects come to life, large or small.
You have basically three choices when working with J. Bryant Boyd.
First, we can be involved in the entire process--the complete design through the monitoring of construction. This is the most costly approach but the advantage is that you will have an expert on the job site at every stage of what can be a very difficult and confusing process.
Second, you can have J. Bryant Boyd develop your design and construction documents then turn them over to the builder. This is a more cost effective approach and you can still pay us to visit the job site if you feel that there is a problem or a question.
Third, you can pay J. Bryant Boyd to critique or make changes to a stock plan or an existing home. In these cases, you will pay us an hourly rate or a flat fee.
As with any decision, it is wise to shop around and ask a lot of questions. Prices vary depending on the size and complexity of the house as well as the detail to which we will carry through their ideas. It is important to know what you are going to get for your money. Make your selection not only on price but also on personality, experience, and aesthetic ability.
